Lessons Learned From Early Embedded Linux Adopter - Hisao Munakata, Renesas

Linux was originally designed for i386 PC by Linus over 20 years ago. After that PC is the representative environment of Linux development till today. Therefore the use of Linux with PC will not require deep technical understanding of Linux kernel. But if you wanted to run Linux on PC incompatible environment it might not straightforward because it causes various unexperienced troubles. Actually many people who enabled Linux on digital consumer products, network equipments and smart-phones had been struggled a lot to utilize Linux software resources. They have also learned how to collaborate with upstream development community through such effort. To learn history before doing the same effort is a smarter way. So I will introduce our history that include typical failures of embedded Linux newbies and how they solved such issues to make their product.
