The increasing presence of software as a driver in automotive development is placing new requirements on telematics. Remote management, over the air software upgrades and monitoring agents are becoming a must for a manufacturer to ensure that their products have software updates pushed and run the right diagnostics. These high-level requirements cascades into a number of hard-to-solve infrastructure-level issues such as data throttling, security, validation, rollbacks and code management. The speech explains the problems and how they can be solved using Linux and other tools. The audience are automotive development managers interested in where telematics is heading, and how Linux can help them lower their development cost and risk exposure in this area. Attending people are expected to have basic knowledge about automotive electronics, embedded systems and mobile communication.
